Colossus

I've only had a handful of sessions with it, but that's enough to understand what the Colossus is about.

At 6'7" it gives you a very powerful lever for extreme popping work and the whole setup feels designed around maximum pressure. It's obviously not a rod you take out for casual fishing.

But when you're specifically targeting the kind of fish that can destroy ordinary tackle, having this in your hands gives you a different level of confidence.

I didn't buy the Colossus for everyday fishing.

I bought it for those situations where you know before the first cast that if something eats the lure, everything is going to get serious very quickly.

The first proper fish on it was exactly that. Huge pressure, short violent runs and no room to give the fish much freedom. The rod felt completely at home.

Very specialised rod, obviously, but the strength is impressive. Beautiful build too.

Everything about this rod feels built for one job: putting enormous pressure on enormous fish.
